A Term is Over!!!

October 16, 2009

A Term is now officially over, which means that WPI students have a brief opportunity to eat, sleep, and try to live normal lives. Amid the hecticness of their first term in college, several freshman found time to come to WPICR meetings, and join us for some events.

Among the events we held were the MACR WPI Central Region Social, with students from other area schools in attendance. This was our first event with the Massachusetts Allicance of College Republicans, and (I dare say), a successful one! We were joined by MACR President Ricky Tsay from Hampshire University, and MACR Central Region Chair Ann Stallings, along with a large delegation from Wellesley College.

WPI College Republicans also participated in a book signing event with Glenn Beck. A number of members came to the event, which was packed out with hundreds in attendance.

Four members of the WPICR board attended the 912 demonstration against reckless government spending in Washington, D.C. Worcester Telegram and Gazette produced a nice article of the event, including a quote from WPICR VP Matt Runkle.

B Term marks the one-year anniversary of our club. It was on October 28, 2008, that our club received official school recognition. Since that date, we have hosted a state Representative, co-sponsored a week-long event on human trafficking, participated in “Tea Party” demonstrations, and held regular meetings.

Here’s to another year of increased conservative activism and enlightenment!
